Posted November 3, 2026
Toronto Sheet Metal Inc. plans to build an addition to its plant in Tottenham once it secures relief from a Zoning By-law to encroach within lands subject to the Environmental Protection Zone provisions, specifically to facilitate the expansion of an existing industrial facility.
The proposed addition would be located on the west side of the existing structure at 6805 5th Line, totalling 2,900 m2 in size, along with a parking area to the west. A heavy-duty asphalt driveway corridor is also being proposed along the west, east and southern portion of the site. A snow storage area and Stormtech chamber are proposed to be located in the southern area of the property.
The company located to Tottenham approximately five years ago and produces insulated panels for commercial refrigeration. It employs about 40 people.
There are conditions attached to the approval including:
-
Compensatory tree planting of 27 trees within the Long-Term Stable Top of Slope and Top-of-Bank setbacks;
• Construction and maintenance of a fabricated chimney nesting structure for Chimney Swift bird species;
• Installation of a double row of light-duty silt fencing;
• Maintenance of a 30 m Vegetation Protection Zone (VPZ) setback, as illustrated on Figure 5 of the EIS;
• Restriction of vegetation removal between April 1 and August 31; and
• Implementation of erosion and sedimentation control measures.
