Backyard structure destroyed by fire in Alliston

New Tecumseth emergency crews were called to a structure fire Sunday morning at Dufferin and Albert Street in Alliston, making its way to a neighbouring home when firefighters arrived at approximately 10:30.

"Upon arrival, firefighters located a shed in the rear yard that was fully involved in fire, with flames extending to a neighbouring residence. Crews quickly initiated an aggressive interior and exterior attack to contain the fire and prevent further spread," according to Chief Dan Heydon.

"Firefighters also conducted a search of the affected residence and confirmed that no occupants remained inside.

Crews remained on scene to complete extinguishment, overhaul, and investigation activities. Following the completion of operations, both properties were released to their respective homeowners."
