Truck safety blitz takes 10 out of service
Posted October 1, 2026
Nottawasaga OPP, the Ministry of Transportation (MTO) Barrie Enforcement Office, conducted a Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV) enforcement blitz on September 30, 2026, in the area of County Road 90.
The initiative focused on improving road safety through commercial vehicle inspections and regulatory compliance enforcement.
During the enforcement initiative:
-
40 commercial motor vehicle inspections were completed;
-
37 Provincial Offence Notices (PONs) were issued; and
-
10 commercial motor vehicles were placed out of service due to safety-related defects or violations.
Commercial motor vehicle enforcement plays a vital role in ensuring vehicles operating on Ontario's highways meet required safety standards. Regular inspections help identify mechanical defects, regulatory violations, and unsafe operating practices before they contribute to collisions.
