EA study commences to improve connecting link intersections
Posted October 22, 2026
Release - The Town of New Tecumseth has initiated a Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (MCEA) to assess the need for improvements to the Victoria Street West, Young Street, Albert Street, and King Street intersections within the Alliston Connecting Link.
The study will examine existing and future transportation conditions and consider the existing 300-metre jog along King Street, which interrupts the otherwise continuous east-west connection of Highway 89.
Alternative solutions will be developed and evaluated to address identified transportation needs and improve the safety, efficiency, connectivity, and overall functionality of the corridor, while considering environmental, social, cultural, technical, and financial factors.
The Town would like to ensure that anyone interested in this study has the opportunity to provide input into the planning and design of the project.
At this time, the Town is inviting public input on local issues and the alternatives being considered. Information about the project is available at newtecumseth.ca/AllistonConnectingLink. Public Information Centres are planned for future stages of the study to inform the public about the study's progress and gather feedback on the solutions being considered.
