
Elderly Toronto man charged in attempted child abduction in Caledon

Caledon OPP have charged a Toronto man following an attempted child abduction in the Town of Caledon near Kennedy Road.
On August 29, at approximately 7:20 pm, police were dispatched to the area of Dotchson Avenue and Sparrowbrook Street, for a reported "lone male operating a motor vehicle who (allegedly) approached a group of children and attempted to persuade them to get into his vehicle," according to OPP.
"The children refused and the male drove away from the location. The suspect was described to be elderly, of South-Asian descent, operating a white Honda Civic sedan with extensive front-end damage."
Police have charged a 74-year-old from Toronto with abduction of a person under 14." Police did not provide his name.
The accused remained in custody pending a bail hearing before the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville today (Sept. 2).
